About the Character Counter
Character limits are hard boundaries: 160 for an SMS segment, 280 for a post on X, roughly 155 for a meta description before Google trims it.
This counter shows totals with and without spaces in real time, so you can trim precisely instead of guessing.
How to use the Character Counter
- Paste or type your text into the field.
- Read both totals — some platforms count spaces, some academic and form limits do not.
- Trim to the limit you care about; adjectives and hedging words usually go first.
